Welcome
To the NSC Pool Section, we are run by the wonderful volunteers of the pool section and by you as a section member. We encourage all people to learn pool, young and old.
Section Membership
By being a NSC member you can become a section member by filling out a membership application form, paying a fee of $10. The membership runs for 12 months from the 1st March each year. (To cover on going administration costs). You will receive newsletters either via email or post.
What we offer you as a section member are the following events
Monday night
- Winter competition, Revel Trophy.
Teams of eight play 2 shot rule, this is run by the Nelson Pool Assc, at alternating venues. This means that all behaviour is held in accordance to the NSC Code of ethics. A $4 fee applies paid on the night, and a team registration fee to the Nelson Pool Association applies. Contact club captain if you would like to be in a team.
Wednesday Night
- Social Pool Night
From March - October we play against Club Waimea for the Wilson Trophy on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at alternating venues and on the 4th Wednesday of each month we play against Nelson North at alternating venues. If you would like to play as part of one of these teams please contact the Club Captain. No Fee Applies. On the remaining Wednesday nights we have social pool. Format depends on numbers and ClubsNz 8 Ball Rules will apply.
- Summertime Memorial Tournament
This is held between November and end of February with teams established via putting your name forward to the club captain. Players are seeded to make the teams as even as possible teams of four playing doubles and singles, and a fee of $5 per night applies which all comes back in prize money for teams and individual achievements.
- Raffles
The pool section is allocated a certain amount of nights to sell raffles within the club. We encourage every pool section member to do their bit towards supporting our raffle convenor, you can do this by contacting her/him, when you are available to help sell tickets from the raffle kiosk or buy donation of products towards raffle prizes, all money raised are put towards yearly prize giving, tournaments or trips away.

We hold a number of tournaments throughout the year including

- Junior Singles
- Mixed Pairs
- Married Couples
- Ladies pairs
- Mens pairs
Dates are set by the committee in April and are played using ClubsNZ 8 Ball Rules.
- Yearly Social Trip Away
Each year funds permitting the section goes away on a social weekend, the location varies yearly so come along to the monthly meetings to put your ideas forward.
- Mary Lawes Trophy
Annually we play a Bowls and Pool Tournament with the bowls section. This is a great day of fun and laughs!
- End of year dar-poo
This is held the afternoon of the Nelson Suburban Club AGM, we have a very friendly but competitive day playing pool and darts with the darts section, which is usually followed by the pool sections prize giving and yearly dinner. This is a very friendly day and we encourage all section members to put their names forward, the more the merrier. (small fee may apply towards dinner).
- Junior Pool
Junior Pool is strong at our Club with coaching and games available to players up to the age of 18years. Junior Pool is usually held every 2nd Sunday night from 6-8pm commencing in February each year. For more information you can contact Clare Shanaher on 544 9606 or 027 444 9606.
- Monthly Meetings
These are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6pm in the Boardroom. All section members are welcome to come along, your imput is always welcome and gratefully appreciated.
Pool Section
The pool section meetings run from February to November of each given year.
The Annual General Meeting is held in November.
