Hi Everyone
Thanks to all the Bathurst supporters who came along to the Club on Sunday. I hope you enjoyed your brunch – Bathurst Lunch specials and the giveaways and raffles we put on for you all. It was one of the best Sundays we have had in a very long time and testament that we can still draw a decent crowd when we have something on. The Club could certainly do with some more days like that. Many thanks to Sue Sara for all the hard work she put in to get the backing of Nelson Bays Holden, M.S Ford and Supercheap Auto. I can’t wait to see what Sue comes up with for the Melbourne Cup.
There’s a good line up of Rugby being screened on the big screen for you all on Saturday so come down and watch it with us. Don’t forget to get your card swiped during the Makos and All Blacks games to get your members specials.
Our apologies if you have you noticed that the heat in the main bar has increased. Our main air-conditioning motor unit has ceased up and will have to be replaced. This couldn’t have come at a worse time financially for us as we really don’t have any choice but to replace it before it gets any hotter out there. If you notice an increase in raffles being pushed on Club nights then it will be to help get the funds faster to have the work done. There’s always something that needs to be done on the building, or some maintenance & repairs that are required. I am grateful to those members who come forward and help the Club with an offer to do the work for us at little or no cost. Those people epitomize the character of a true club member, not expecting anything in return for their efforts; they just want to help us to maintain the fantastic facility we have here for others to enjoy and to also help the Club save money by volunteering their time and expertise. On behalf of the Finance and Management committee, thank you to all of our volunteers. Talking of projects we have another two that we are working on. See below:
MAIN BAR DANCE FLOOR. CAN YOU HELP US??
Can anyone please donate materials & time to lay a floor down in the main bar??
This is a call out to all members who are chippies & flooring layers. We want to have a dance floor put down in the main bar and are seeking volunteers to help with this project once we have the materials. The cheapest and most versatile option would be to prepare and level the area then lay chipboard over it before applying a stain and polish to finish. We would love to have this done within the next 4 -6 weeks so if you are able to help the Club reduce the cost of this project in any way please don’t hesitate to see me as soon as possible thank you.
OUTDOOR AREA UPGRADE
Our outdoor area needs a makeover to be ready for the summer use. Currently it looks unwanted and dreary; my hope is to have some perimeter planter boxes built which can accommodate some fast growing pittosporums to clip into a privacy hedge. Ideally a shade sail will cover the area or some new umbrellas to shade you from the sun. Some new outdoor furniture will complete the look. Our garden sections have offered to help with the project and donate a little toward the cost. If there are any members that would be willing to help with the project then I would love to hear from you too.
UPDATE ON SPECIAL MEETING. SUNDAY 19THOCTOBER @ 10am.
If you are coming along to the meeting please detach and bring your registration of attendance slip to hand over upon arrival. This will ensure a speedy entry for yourself and everyone else.
If you are not able to attend please take the time to return your absentee voting form. Returning your slip will ensure that your preference counts should the items on the agenda get proposed and voted on. We need to know the level of support we have either way from our membership in-order to be able to make an informed decision for everyone on the direction we take for the future of the Club.
AGM - The club’s 44th AGM is to be held at 10am on Sunday November 23rd 2014
2014 - 2015 Executive Nominations.
Nominations for the up-coming election of executive open next Friday 24th October. Nomination forms will be available from the reception desk from the 24th.
Are you interested in making a difference at your Club? Have you got a lot to contribute and time to give? Do you know a member who would make a fantastic committee member for the Club? Are you prepared to put your money where your mouth is? Now is the time for you to consider nominations for Executive for the 2014-15 year. Not an easy role and often an unrecognised one, you will be part of the Clubs recovery and will be full of great ideas. You will assist with improving patronage through your ability to encourage new groups and existing groups to use the facility. You will be nominated to stand because you want to help the Club move forward and have the drive and commitment to help make it happen alongside your peer Executives. If you have an interest in being an Executive Officer in the Club and have the drive to make a difference, your application will be welcomed. As a candidate you will stand alongside our current Committee for election. If you have the time and can commit to such a role then now is the time to come forward and express your interest. We will require a candidate profile from you and five minutes of your time to have a photo taken for your candidate poster. Nominations for the roles will open on October 24th and close on November 7th 2014. Voting for the candidates will open on November 7th and close on Saturday 22nd November 2014. The AGM is to be held on Sunday November 23rd at 10am in the Sports Hall.
