Rob Finlayson - General Manager's updateHi Everyone

Isn't it great to have a few warmer days now spring is here? The only down fall to the warmer weather is that the weeds start growing again; which means the unsealed overflow car park will be full of them if we don’t get it re-sprayed soon.

Housie is still going strong on a Monday afternoon but we are only getting an average turn out to the Wednesday evening housie. It would be great to see it supported by more members and guests so please come along and have a go. The Housie team would appreciate some more volunteers to help out on a Wednesday night; if you’re interested in being part of the team please contact myself or Moana Payn. We still have so many activities happening here at the Club on a regular basis, we just need to see more of you coming along and bringing a guest with you. It would make a difference to the Club if every member was involved in just one of our social or sporting sections and coming along once a week to support it. It would be great to see everyone here getting the benefit from their membership fee. Enough said.

Don’t miss out on this one!!!  If you’re a petrol head then come down to the Club on Sunday 12th October to watch the Bathurst 10 am on the big screen. To start the day off there will be our famous $10.00 breakfast from 10am followed by some super car racing additions to the cafe menu for the day such as: Mount Panorama Steak, Conrod Straight Special and a Bridgestone Burger. How about an Ethanol shot from the bar? That will get your engine revving.  There will be racing merchandise to give away donated by MS Ford as well as an official CS Team racing shirt being raffled. Nelson Bays Holden are putting a super car on display down here and Super Cheap Auto have generously donated some prizes. Follow and like the posts on our Facebook page and don’t forget to share these posts with your friends.  It would be great to see the Club full.

Don’t forget to follow the Club on Facebook. Events and updates are posted regularly to keep you informed.

NEW MEMBERS DRAW COMING… CRACK THE CUBE.

Update on the Thursday members draw.

Now that a lucky member took away $3,500 last week we have taken the opportunity to make a change to the draw. Crack the Cube will start this Thursday. To be in with a chance to crack the cube you must be in the bar when the draw is done, have made a purchase off the bar and had your membership card swiped. Un-financial members will not be eligible for the draw. The member whose number comes out will be invited to attempt to crack the code of a four digit combination locked box containing $1,000.00. Throughout the weeks random code numbers in no particular order will be given. If not cracked following all 4 random numbers being advised then we will start giving the order of the numbers until you have 2 random numbers and two in order. If not before hand it should be cracked by then.

One of the common questions I am asked from members is why does the Club have such large amounts up for grabs? The obvious answer is the number of people coming in when the jackpot is high. However we don’t have much happening once it has been struck and it can take up to 30 weeks before we start to see the bigger crowds coming in again. We have to find a balance and stop relying on big jackpots to draw the crowds in. Just as you our members will have to accept that the Club cannot afford to fund such large amounts.  As each of the remaining jackpots are claimed we will review how they are replaced.  If the way we do the new one doesn’t work we will try something different again.

Update on Special meeting Sunday 19th October 2014, 10am.

If you are a financial member very soon you will be receiving by post an info pack on the Special Meeting now being held on Sunday 19th October at 10am. If you are coming along to the meeting please detach and bring your registration of attendance slip to hand over upon arrival. This will ensure a speedy entry for yourself and everyone else. If you are not able to attend please take the time to return your absentee voting form. We need to know what level of support we have from our membership in order to be able to make an informed decision for everyone. The date for the special meeting is firmly set in concrete now and will not be changed. I apologise for the previous changes to the date which were made.

AGM.
The clubs 44th AGM is to be held at 10am on Sunday November 23rd 2014.

2014 -2015 Executive Nominations.

Again, just a reminder that the time is getting nearer for the election of officers for the coming year. Are you interested in making a difference at your Club? Have you got a lot to contribute and time to give? Do you know a member who would make a fantastic Committee member for the Club? Are you prepared to put your money where your mouth is? Now is the time for you to consider nominations for executive for the 2014-15 year. Not an easy role and often an unrecognised one, you will be part of the Clubs recovery and will be full of great ideas. You will assist with improving patronage through your ability to encourage new groups and existing groups to use the facility. You will be nominated to stand because you want to help the Club move forward and have the drive and commitment to help make it happen alongside your pier Executives.  If you have an interest in being an Executive officer in the Club and have the drive to make a difference, your application will be welcomed. As a candidate you will stand alongside our current Committee for election. If you have the time and can commit to such a role then now is the time to come forward and express your interest. We will require a candidate profile from you and five minutes of your time to have a photo taken for your candidate poster. Nominations for the roles will open on October 24th and close on November 7th. Voting for the candidates will open on November 7th and close on Saturday 22nd November. The AGM is to be held on Sunday November 23rd at 10am in the Sports Hall.

Enjoy the week
Regards Rob
