Hi Everyone
It would be hard not to notice the Volkswagon parked under the entrance canopy as you walk into the club. We have partnered with Haven Motors to display their promotional vehicles here in return for our membership application forms being put into every vehicle they sell or service. This is just another less expensive way for us to get our name out there amongst the public, while using other business partners to leverage support from and vice versa. The more local business’ that we can develop these alliances with - the less expensive our marketing becomes over time. Sharing of databases and web pages will also add value to these associations. If any of you have businesses and did not realise we do this we would love to hear from you to discuss options. Give me a call on 548 6815 or drop me an email rob@nelsonsuburbanclub.co.nz
By now you should all have seen the notification of the upcoming Special General Meeting. If any of you were confused about what day the meeting is held it is in fact Thursday 31st July. Unfortunately the Nelson Mail’s article on page two said a different day to the actual official notification. This has resulted in the phone ringing red hot with members keen to tell us of the mistake we made. We really appreciate the calls and it’s great that so many of you have contacted us to let us know. I can assure you that we didn’t make the mistake. The error was made by the reporter who wrote the feature. We requested the Nelson Mail print a public apology for their error. They printed a correction on Wednesday but naturally no apology. That is so typical of newspapers. This is a very important meeting for the Club and I would recommend that you take the time to come along if you can.
Despite all the negative reports going around and comments on public web pages we are doing our best to ignore the sceptics and forge on ahead anyway. It can be hard to keep the staff morale upbeat when so many people seem to just want to beat us up. We say to them, give us a break! I say to you, our members; prove them all wrong. This Club belongs to you, you can make a difference. Please support your Club in any way you can.
How about coming along this Saturday evening to join us in celebrating the Club’s 44th Birthday? We will have the very popular band “Southern Soundz” in the house to get you on the dance floor. There will be raffles and spot prizes to give away throughout the evening and members bar specials running all night. Come and make a night of it by having a meal in the restaurant or Club Cafe first. It will be great to see you.
There’s been a bit of flu going around the staff here over the last few weeks so I hope you are all keeping warm and managing to stay as well as you can; considering the cold.
Take care out there.
Regards
Rob
