It was great to see such a large crowd come along for last Thursday’s meeting. We have been getting a lot of feedback coming in with regard to the meeting which is to be expected. Just to clarify one of the most common concerns for you. Your show of card in favour of the $100 debt reduction levy was not an official vote in favour of that option at this stage. The next stage is for the board to go away and investigate what applying a debt reduction levy would entail, how many payment options could we offer, how will we administer it. Also to do is the financial facts and forecasts so you are informed of this detail before casting your vote. Firstly this requires a motion to be passed, moved and seconded before voting for or against. More information will provided with regard to the options that were on the agenda so you are more informed before deciding.
It has been a hell of a roller coaster ride over the last twelve months for the club and I’m picking the turbulence will continue for a while to come yet given the current status. The Club has some very avid supporters amongst the membership and to know they have faith in us is really heartening. Like you our staff pay attention to what gets reported in the paper and on social media sites.
Social media sites in particular can be very damaging to our staff morale. It is on these sites that people can hide behind their anonymous names and be pretty nasty. “Not all are”. Our staff can rise above that as there is always going to be that element in society who acts this way. What does hurt our staff is when they hear it coming from our own members within the club while doing their jobs. It brings them down and affects the level of service they provide which then affects the Club. Let’s try to keep things positive please.
It was fantastic to see a good turn out to our first Wednesday evening Housie. If you are looking for a fun night out and the chance to win some cash then come along. Everybody is welcome and you are welcome to sign in guests as well, so bring a friend along.
