Latest Happenings....

Sunday September 18, 15 of the top players in nelson battled in the Mens Singles Pool Championships. After some hard fought battles, Nathan Geddes finally became the winner closely followed by his father, Shane. The competition was ably controlled by Laureen and Pete shown here discussing some issues with club captain Chris.
Pool Section
Welcome to the NSC Pool Section, we are run by the wonderful volunteers of the pool section
and by you as a section member.
The Pool Section has now amalgamated with the Snooker Section and re manned Cue Sports Section
We encourage all people to learn pool or snooker- young and old.
Section Membership
By being a NSC member you can become a section member by filling out a membership application
form, paying a fee of $10.
The membership runs for 12 months from the 1st March each year. (To cover on going
administration costs).
What we offer you as a section member are the following events:
Wednesday Night - Social Pool Night
From March - October we play against Club Waimea for the Wilson Trophy on the 3rd Wednesday
of each month at alternating venues and on the 4th Wednesday of each month we play against
Nelson North at alternating venues. If you would like to play as part of one of these teams please
contact the Club Captain. No Fee Applies. On the remaining Wednesday nights we have social pool.
Format depends on numbers and ClubsNz 8 Ball Rules will apply. This is also a night where new
members are welcome and coaching is available.
Summertime Memorial Tournament
This is held on Wednesday nights between November and end of February with a break over
Chrismas/New Year. Teams are established via putting your name on the entry form on the notice
board near the pool tables. Players are seeded to make the teams as even as possible teams of four
playing doubles and singles, and a fee of $6 per night applies which all comes back in prize money
for teams and individual achievements.
Raffles
The pool section is allocated a certain amount of nights to sell raffles within the club. We encourage
every pool section member to do their bit towards supporting our raffle convener. You can do this
by contacting her/him, when you are available to help sell tickets from the raffle kiosk or buy
donation of products towards raffle prizes, all money raised are put towards yearly prize giving,
tournaments or trips away.
Tournaments
We hold a number of tournaments throughout the year including:
• Ladies singles
• Mens singles
• Junior Singles
• Mixed Pairs
• Married Couples
• Ladies pairs
• Mens pairs
• Open singles
• Other tournament games are organized according to demand.
• All entry forms are displayed on pool notice board near pool tables
Dates are set by the committee in April and are played using ClubsNZ 8 Ball Rules.
Yearly Social Trip Away
Each year, funds permitting, the section goes away on a social weekend, the location varies yearly
so come along to the monthly meetings to put your ideas forward.
End of year dar-poo
This is held the afternoon of the Nelson Suburban Club AGM, we have a very friendly but
competitive day playing pool and darts with the darts section, which is usually followed by the pool
sections prize giving and yearly dinner. This is a very friendly day and we encourage all section
members to put their names forward, the more the merrier. (small fee may apply towards dinner).
Junior Pool
Junior Pool is strong at our Club with coaching and games available to players up to the age of 18
years. They are coached by some of Nelsons top players and some have progressed from hardly
knowing how to hold a cue to becoming national champions. Each year, funding is raised to send
them to a National Tournament somewhere around the country to compare their skills with other
juniors. Junior Pool is usually held on Tuesday evenings between 4:30 and 6pm.
Monthly Meetings
These are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6pm in the Boardroom. All section members
are welcome to come along, your input is always welcome and gratefully appreciated.
Pool Section
The pool section meetings run from February to November of each given year.
The Annual General Meeting is held in November.
